Baltimore rapper Evian Luciani has released his latest EP, LVCCI, which is like the mixture between R&B, Hip-Hop, and The Silence Like The Lambs according to Pigeons and Planes.
With a darkness that verges on camp, LVCCI plays like an experiment in the sounds and signifiers of modern R&B—project closer “Rihanna” feels grimly earnest and a bit goofy as a result, but it’s not that farfetched to imagine it in the hands of a Travis $cott or PartyNextDoor.
If anything, LVCCI is an exercise in executing current sounds with some experimental flair and pushing listeners to examine the genre that’s lending so much to the hip-hop landscape without yet dominating it commercially. Imperfect and occasionally hypnotic food for thought.
