Meet Clay James, Newest Member of Snoop's Doggy Style Records

"Clay James" is a southern hip-hop artist born in Atlanta and raised in Savannah, Georgia! In 2010 a friend suggested "Clay James" pick up a microphone because he had a dope look and interesting story to tell; that they felt like people would relate to.

Clay is from the inner city of Savannah, Georgia where not too many people make it out and reach the amount of success he has. The westside of Savannah is a place where drugs, poverty, & crime are at an all time high so opportunities are scarce, especially in the music industry. After building a buzz in the Atlanta music underground scene thru releasing 10+ mixtapes, networking in clubs & mixers, and showcase performances almost every night; Clay performed at the 2016 SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas where he met some affiliates of "Snoop Dogg".

One of Snoop's artist "Yung Zeke" saw Clay perform and took a liking to him. Zeke turned his music into Pocket "Young Sagg" Norwoood which was an A&R/Talent Scout at "DoggyStyle Records" and he turned into to "Snoop Dogg". Snoop and Sagg took an instant liking to the southern spitter and on May 10th of 2016 they released his first single "Southern Playa Sh*t" feat. Messiah Da Rapper under the label "DoggyStyle Records" because of the success of the single and the fact the new signee went viral in the media; Snoop decided he wanted to resign Clay to a long term deal and take him under his wing.

Clay is now the 1st artist on Snoop's "DoggyStyle South" division of "DoggyStyle Records". Stay tuned as Clay and Snoop set out to make history combining the sounds of the dirty south and west coast.
